Robben Ford

River Records ventures deeper into blues/rock territory with the reissue of Robben Fords "Handful Of Blues". Robben originally sprang to fame as a session man and spent much of the seventies working with Jimmy Witherspoon, Tom Scott's L.A. Express, Joni Mitchell and George Harrison. He was a founding member of the jazz fusion Yellowjackets and stayed with them 1977-1983, followed by two spells as pat of Miles Davis road band.

In 1992 he returned to his roots, and his first love - The Blues. "Handful Of Blues" was originally released in 1995 with a classic blues trio, just bass, drums and guitar. Comprising mostly original songs, the album has two awesome blues covers "Dont Let Me Be Misunderstood" (most notable for being a big hit for "The Animals" and Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You" (recorded by everybody from the Stones on down..) Clocking in at around the one hour mark this is a fine introduction to the timeless blues of Robben Ford.
