This Newcastle, UK-based quintet took the name Lindisfarne in 1968. Their debut, 'Nicely Out Of Tune' was issued in 1969 and melded rock and folk pop harmonies. This album contained the song "Lady Eleanor." The follow-up album 'Fog On The Tyne' made the No.1 slot and the single success of 'Meet Me On The Corner' prompted the reissue of 'Eleanor'. Alan Hull (vocals, guitars, piano) had a concurrent solo career and an ill-fated US tour contributed to the original band's split. The original quintet later resumed working together and in 1978 enjoyed a UK Top 10 single with "Run For Home." |
