Dave Greenslade John Young Tony Reeves Chris Cozens

Greenslade formed in November 1972 when bassist Tony Reeves got together with keyboard player Dave Greenslade. Both were original members of the musically similar Colosseum with Greenslade composing some of that band's best-known material.

The Greenslade line-up was completed by ex-Episode Six and Alan Bown Set member Dave Lawson (keyboards/vocals) and Andrew McCulloch (drums)

Greenslade's first two albums, released in 1973, revealed a complexity of arrnagements and melding of various musical styles and were critically well received. They were excellent examples of progressive rock. complete with Roger Dean designed cover art.

By the time of the third album (Spyglass Guest) in 1974 the band had been joined by Colosseum renegade Dave Clempson (guitar, ex-Humble Pie) and Graham Smith (fiddle).

Reeves left the band to be replaced by Martin Briley for a U.S. tour. The band split in January 1976 giving management problems as a reason.

GREENSLADE

Greenslade

After the band split, Dave Greenslade collaborated with fantasy artist/writer Patrick Woodroffe in a lavish and expensive concept double album, The Pentateuch Of The Cosmogony in 1979. Throughout the '80s and into the '90s, he has carved out a successful career composing theme music for British film and television.

In 1999 Dave Greenslade produced an album of live tracks recorded between 1973 and 1975, and in 2001 there was the release of "Large Afternoon", the first "new" Greenslade album since the seventies.
