Paul Stump turns the microscope on one of progressive rock's most complex but ultimately more rewarding bands. Gentle Giant evolved from the ashes of Simon Dupree and the Big Sound, best known for the hit single 'Kites'. The band blended an extraordinary mixture of rock, classical and mediaeval music. Giant quickly acquired a large cult following the world over with concert tours in Europe and America. As with many bands that were seemingly killed off by the new wave revolution of 1976/77, Gentle Giant's music has endured over time and new generations are as entranced by their intricate sound as were audiences of thirty years ago.
